Eco Republic was born out of a desire to want to make a change – to be more environmentally responsible. Feeling burdened by the enormous pressure our environment is under, we wanted to be a part of the solution. At Eco Republic Bags we had a vision. A vision that included offering an alternative to mass produced, poor-quality, short-lived accessories, made in countries that turn a blind eye to the working conditions in their factories.

 

When we discovered that tons of high-quality offcuts such as canvas, PVC and webbing from industry ends up in landfill, along with other valuable resources that can’t be sold because they are damaged or no longer fashionable, we decided to collect, repurpose and recycle what we could, to make handcrafted, durable and fashionable bags. Up to 95% of the material used in the crafting of each ER bag is recycled and reclaimed, and most of these materials have been collected from within 200km of our workshop.

Many small Australian businesses like ours are selling accessories designed in Australia but made overseas.

 

We wanted our bags to be designed AND handmade right here in WA.
